Dolly Parton spent a lifetime reminding us of the power of love, kindness, and showing up for the people who matter most. In the wake of her passing, we’ve been thinking about something especially important: caregiving is part of so many families’ stories. It can be an act of love, but it can also be complicated, exhausting, and deeply personal. Because of that, she continues to remind us the importance of taking care of the caregiver. That’s why conversations about aging and caregiving matter, not just when a family reaches a moment of crisis, but long before.
At Artis, we believe care is about more than meeting physical needs. It’s about understanding the whole person, supporting families, creating connection, and helping people continue to live meaningful lives.
Dolly’s legacy reminds us how much one person can give to others. Her story also reminds us that behind every family is a very human journey of love, change, and care. We’re grateful for the reminder to keep talking about it.

Dolly Parton’s legacy includes an unfortunate reality of caregiving: Not taking care of oneself | CNN

Like many caregivers, Dolly Parton didn’t take care of her own health while caring for her ailing husband. That’s not unusual, even among people with resources.0 CommentsComment on Facebook

🐾 THIS ONE’S FOR THE PUPS! There’s nothing quite like you; your wagging tail brightening everyone’s day. And at Artis, we see it firsthand every time you + your boop-worthy nose walk through the door.
For our residents, the presence of you can spark joy, ease anxiety, encourage conversation, and bring a sense of calm. It’s why pet therapy is a cherished part of life here. A gentle nuzzle, a warm snuggle, a familiar bark – these small moments create real, meaningful connections. 🐶💙
Happy National Dog Day. Every good boy and girl makes a difference to all of us.🦮

🎤 Time to wrap Pass the Mic for August! For my last video, a blooper that was too good to cut. 😂
I sat down to walk you through end of month wrap up, and got pulled away mid-sentence by a teammate who needed my help. Honestly, perfect timing – because it’s the best example of what my day actually looks like. One minute I’m deep in business operations, the next I’m assisting a family!
That’s the reality of being a DBS at Artis: no two minutes look the same, helping each other out is just part of the job – and there’s nothing else I’d rather be doing. 💙
Stay tuned – a new host takes the mic next month!

Some things you learn working here…
💙 It’s kinda chic to have a 92-year-old bestie.
💙 It’s kinda chic to work somewhere hugs happen before meetings.
💙 It’s kinda chic to consider “making someone smile” a legitimate accomplishment.
💙 It’s kinda chic to work with living history.
💙 It’s kinda chic to be reminded every day what actually matters.
We’re not saying memory care is the coolest job in the world. We’re just saying… it kinda is.

🎤 Round two of taking over the Artis Mic – and this time, I come bearing gifts for our new associates! 🎁
Orientation day is one of my favorite parts of being a Director of Business Services. I get to meet our new associates, walk them through what makes Artis special, and welcome them into the community on their very first day. And I never show up empty-handed – new team members enjoy an Artis fanny pack loaded with goodies. 💙 We love rolling out a warm welcome to new associates!
