Maverick shares the joy of seeing his grandmother thrive at Artis — from compassionate care to creative expression through art. “It’s just a joy,” he says, watching her engage and connect in a place where genuine people support and uplift each resident.
Life Enrichment at Artis is powered by people with the training, heart, and intuition to transform everyday moments into meaningful experiences. Meet Marlene, one of our Life Enrichment Directors, whose superpower is discovering what brings each resident to life.

“I always wanted to paint more … now I paint every day.”

Caroline always decorated her home beautifully. She sent her husband to get a Christmas tree from the Lyons Club in town. Caroline saved the tinsel from the tree each year between the pages of a magazine, so she could reuse it. Caroline's daughter Marion recalls, “Mom always gave creative and thoughtful Christmas gifts. We never wanted for anything.” The family attended church on Christmas Eve. They visited with grandparents and cousins. On New Year’s Day, they went to their grandparents’ home for eggnog. These are the small but meaningful events that their family will always remember. She gave her children a lifetime of cherished memories. #HonoringYesterdayCelebratingToday #artisholiday #TheArtisWay … See MoreSee Less

Once a Marine, always a Marine. However, Marlyn's softer side shines through particularly when it comes to family. She delights in holiday gatherings and looks forward to decorating the house for Christmas. Marlyn also enjoys baking cookies, a tradition she has passed down to her children. Marlyn continues to share this passion, as evidenced by her upcoming cookie-baking session with her daughter Tracy and friends here at Artis. #HonoringYesterdayCelebratingToday #TheArtisWay #artisholiday … See MoreSee Less

🫶 This holiday season at Artis, we’re celebrating connection, creativity, and care – the Artis Way!
Our residents, families, and associates are coming together to create Artis Comfort Boxes – personalized keepsake boxes filled with favorite memories, photos, and meaningful items that bring comfort and joy.
Each box tells a story, nurtures the senses, and reminds our residents that they are safe, loved, and treasured. We’ll keep creating these together throughout the year – because comfort and play are gifts that never go out of season.

Pat's enthusiasm for the holiday season is unparalleled, and in later years, she would spend Christmas Eve at her daughter's residence, adding her special touch to Christmas Day. Her family would awaken to presents and nutbread, and she would begin preparing for the family feast. Pat and her daughter co-hosted the Maiorino and Mocarski clan's gathering, which typically consisted of approximately 25 guests. Patty, her daughter, reflects, "In my childhood years, Mom consistently hosted Christmas Day. Some of my fondest memories were formed on Christmas Eve when we gathered with family friends, the DiLouies and the Quattrones, and partook in the traditional feast of the seven fishes. Mom's crab sauce was truly exceptional! She consistently made the holidays a special time for us, ensuring our most desired gifts were under the tree. There were numerous good times and too many memories to mention, but they were all filled with love and family." #artisholiday #HonoringYesterdayCelebratingToday #TheArtisWay … See MoreSee Less
