Community Mission and Values Hero 1

Our guiding principles help us set a high standard for quality, safety and well-being, every day.

We believe that teamwork, accountability, and mutual respect create an environment where everyone is motivated to be and do their best. We understand interdependence and consider the impact of business decisions on residents, associates, families, local partners, and owners.

We recognize that our attitudes directly affect our residents and each other. We know positivity is integral to holistic well-being and is a collective effort, shared and amplified by associates, residents, families, and our local partners alike. We support residents and each other in building resilience, helping residents to navigate the challenges of aging and dementia with warmth and tenderness.

We think before we act, because we are ultimately responsible for our actions and decisions. We exhibit empathy and integrity. We strive to know and honor each other’s stories and to make each moment meaningful. We exhibit behavior that inspires others to do what’s right for our residents, their families, and our associates.

We believe that optimal well-being can be achieved at any age, and we aim to create an environment that encourages individuality and independence. We believe that the right mix of sleep, nutrition, natural light, movement, meaningful relationships, and opportunities for play are the secret to living an inspired and present life.

We know that while we pride ourselves on what we do, continuous improvement is how we maintain an Artis level of quality. We know that profitability allows us to maintain our promises to residents and families. We embrace change, nimbly adapt from failures, and frequently celebrate successes.

We thank everyone who joined us at Artis Senior Living Potomac for our 3rd Annual Fashion Show as we celebrated Cultural Diversity Day with a beautiful “Plate to Table” experience — sharing traditions, culture, and heritage right at the heart of our community.

Today reminded us that diversity is not just about where we come from, but about the stories, memories, and values we bring together as one community. Different cultures, traditions, languages, and generations united in one room created something truly meaningful — a celebration of love, respect, belonging, and pride.

Our residents proudly walked the runway in their traditional clothing, sharing pieces of their life stories through every fabric, color, and smile. The confidence, joy, and pride seen during the fashion show made this event a tremendous success and a beautiful reflection of the lives and journeys that shaped each individual.

At Artis, “Honoring Yesterday” is more than a philosophy — it is a truth we live every day. We honor the roots, traditions, and memories that make each person unique while creating new moments of joy and connection together today.

Residents, families, staff, and community members joined hands in laughter, celebration, and pride as we shared our cultures and traditions with one another. Thank you for making this day unforgettable and for reminding us that when we celebrate our differences, we strengthen our community as one family. ❤️

May is Mental Health Awareness Month – and at Artis, we know that supporting our residents means supporting the families and caregivers who love them, too.

Caregiving is meaningful work. It's also emotionally demanding in ways that are easy to minimize and hard to sustain alone. Nearly 1 in 4 U.S. adults are currently caring for a loved one – and many are doing so without much support of their own.

To help, we put together some thoughts on how caregivers can protect their well-being, and how friends and family can show up for the caregivers in their lives.🔗 artisseniorliving.com/blog/caring-for-the-caregiver-supporting-mental-health-well-being/
