Community Mission and Values Hero 1

Our guiding principles help us set a high standard for quality, safety and well-being, every day.

We believe that teamwork, accountability, and mutual respect create an environment where everyone is motivated to be and do their best. We understand interdependence and consider the impact of business decisions on residents, associates, families, local partners, and owners.

We recognize that our attitudes directly affect our residents and each other. We know positivity is integral to holistic well-being and is a collective effort, shared and amplified by associates, residents, families, and our local partners alike. We support residents and each other in building resilience, helping residents to navigate the challenges of aging and dementia with warmth and tenderness.

We think before we act, because we are ultimately responsible for our actions and decisions. We exhibit empathy and integrity. We strive to know and honor each other’s stories and to make each moment meaningful. We exhibit behavior that inspires others to do what’s right for our residents, their families, and our associates.

We believe that optimal well-being can be achieved at any age, and we aim to create an environment that encourages individuality and independence. We believe that the right mix of sleep, nutrition, natural light, movement, meaningful relationships, and opportunities for play are the secret to living an inspired and present life.

We know that while we pride ourselves on what we do, continuous improvement is how we maintain an Artis level of quality. We know that profitability allows us to maintain our promises to residents and families. We embrace change, nimbly adapt from failures, and frequently celebrate successes.

What if the most meaningful moment of the day began with a simple question: “Which would you prefer today?” For people living with dementia, having the freedom to choose – what to wear, where to sit, whether to join a program or simply observe – can have a real impact on dignity and connection. At Artis, July's Power of Play theme explores how small, low-pressure choices create space for authentic engagement and presence with no “right” answers – just an open invitation to participate in a way that feels good today. Learn how Artis supports connection through play this summer.

We are celebrating the freedom to choose this month in honor of our nation’s 250th Independence Day! 🇺🇸 Today we held our Power of Play Open Studio event where residents chose a different coaster design to paint.

In addition to today’s event, we had residents, associates, and visitors cast their vote all week long on a “this or that” question of the day. The people voted, and we heard their preferences! Here are the results:

✅ Vanilla🍦 over ❌ Chocolate 🍫
✅ Dogs 🐶 over ❌ Cats 🐱
✅ Beach 🌊 over ❌ Mountains ⛰️
✅ Sinatra🎙️ over ❌ Elvis 🎸
✅ Dancing 💃🏻 over ❌ Singing 🎤
✅ Sweet 🍭 over ❌ Salty 🥨
✅ No pineapple on pizza 🍕 over ❌ pineapple on pizza 🍍

Do you agree with our results? There were many strong opinions on the pizza debate!

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸

At Artis, we always value the time we spend around the table with the people we care about – and the food we love. Today, we’re also celebrating something simple yet powerful: the freedom to choose.
🇺🇸Which brings us to an important question. What favorite dish at a cookout gets your taste buds tingling?
🤔 Let us know in the comments! 🍔

🎶 The Stones or The Beatles?

Personal choice is essential to dignity and emotional well-being on the dementia journey. While complex decisions may become more challenging with memory loss, simple, sensory-based choices offer opportunities for autonomy and self-expression.

Join us this month at ✅ Celebrating the Freedom to Choose ✅ – our Power of Play signature event! It's an interactive experience where we’ll explore our preferences by “voting” between different options, followed by a family-friendly Open Studio where you can choose a creative program to enjoy together.

🎓✨ Celebrating our very first Artis Graduation Ceremony! ✨🎓

We had the honor of celebrating an incredible milestone as we recognized our graduates, including our longtime Life Enrichment Assistant, Lily, along with graduating family members of our associates and residents.

The ceremony was led by our Director of Life Enrichment, Jenn Krumholtz, with inspiring words from our Executive Director, Gina Cambre, as she addressed and congratulated the graduates. Lily brought plenty of smiles and laughter with her humorously perfect Salutatorian speech! Our wonderful resident Ambassador, Elizabeth, had the special honor of presenting diplomas to each graduate as we celebrated their accomplishments together.

The festivities continued with delicious cake, refreshing drinks, and a fun Photo Booth where residents, families, and associates captured memories from this special day.

Congratulations to all of our graduates – we are so proud of you and thrilled to celebrate this exciting achievement with our Artis family! 🎓💙

Today a few of us went to Lasdon Park for a wonderful picnic and walk amongst the flowers and trees! We all loved the fresh air, sunshine, and wide open spaces we got to explore together. We even had a few visits from butterflies 🦋

We first enjoyed the Memorial Garden, then picnicked under the Fruit Trees. After lunch, we continued down the Lilac Path, through the Conifer Garden, around to the Flowering Tree Grove, and back through the Magnolia Garden to enjoy the Memorial Garden once more before heading out.

When asked what everyone’s favorite part of the trip was, we all agreed the sunshine (and occasional shade) was the best part! ☀️
