Community Life Enrichment Hero 1

Week of Events

Maverick shares the joy of seeing his grandmother thrive at Artis — from compassionate care to creative expression through art. “It’s just a joy,” he says, watching her engage and connect in a place where genuine people support and uplift each resident.

Life Enrichment at Artis is powered by people with the training, heart, and intuition to transform everyday moments into meaningful experiences. Meet Marlene, one of our Life Enrichment Directors, whose superpower is discovering what brings each resident to life

Yesterday, we celebrated Director of Community Integration Day, which fell on National Kindness Day. It was the perfect day to honor our DCI, Anitha. She embodies all the qualities of Artis and is a skilled social worker. She is the most loyal, kind, and sweetest person I know. Happy DCI Day, Anitha! You deserve it!!!

It’s World Kindness day, and who better to celebrate than our DCIs. 💖

Our Directors of Community Integration have a role focused entirely on ensuring residents are welcomed with intention, care plans are aligned holistically, families are communicated with proactively, and Artis associates are supported with robust dementia education from day one.

In other words, they’re the Directors of helping people belong.

Thank you for your kindness, every day!

We’re celebrating National Happy Hour Day with a toast to our well-being – and a refreshingly healthy mocktail recipe from our National Director of Culinary Services, Chef Joel Walding. 🧑‍🍳 It’s light, bubbly, and packed with ingredients that love you back.

Cucumber-Pear Electrolyte Refresher

🥒 4-5 cucumber slices – rich in beta carotene to help calm inflammation
🍐 1/2 ripe pear, sliced thin – a great source of fiber for gentle digestion
🍯 1 teaspoon honey or agave (optional) – natural sweetness with soothing antioxidants
💚 juice of 1/2 a lime – loaded with vitamin C to give your immune system a lift
sea salt – just a pinch to help your body hold on to hydration
🥥 1/2 cup coconut water – a natural way to restore electrolytes after activity
💦 1/2 cup sparkling water – the more hydration, the better In a shaker or tall glass, muddle the cucumber slices and pear with lime juice and honey or agave until juicy.

Add a pinch of sea salt and pour in the coconut water.

Fill the glass with ice cubes, then top with sparkling water.

Stir gently and garnish with a cucumber ribbon or pear slice. Cheers! 🍹

Today, we are honoring Ronald K., Ronald was born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia, where met his beautiful wife Judy, had two amazing sons, and was married for forty nine years.
Ronald served our country with distinction as a dedicated Marine, entering the training camp at Paris Island in 1965 and serving in the Vietnam War for three years. Ronald stated, “I felt better being trained and equipped as a soldier, so I joined the Marines. As a marine, we were very faithful and never left anyone behind.” After returning from Vietnam, Ronald became a union electrician before retiring. In his leisure time, he enjoys watching the news, Phillies sports, and walking. Ronald’s Artis family would like to express their gratitude to him and all veterans for their service. It is an honor to share Ronald K. journey with everyone!
