An Artis Virtual Workshop for Families
End of life is something most people don’t want to talk about. We often do not have the proper documents or discussions with our families when they are physically and cognitively able. Join us for an informative program led by End-of-Life Doula Chelsea Duckers about ways to help ensure a dying person’s wishes are honored, and everyone is prepared for the journey.

Today, we’re celebrating our October Power of Play theme: Imagination!
Imagination is something we never outgrow. It allows us to dream, create, remember, and see ordinary things in extraordinary ways. And today, we let our imaginations take the lead!
We took something as simple as a gourd and turned it into a work of art. There are no rules and no right or wrong way to create. We forget about perfection, had a little fun, and let our imagination run wild. Because imagination has no age limit when we give ourselves permission to play, create, and dream, there’s no telling what beautiful things we can make!
And of course, what would an October celebration be without some delicious fall treats? We enjoyed Apple cider & pumpkin donuts and caramel apples. The best flavors of the season!

It’s National Physical Therapy Month, and we’re grateful for the hands that keep us moving.
Physical therapists help residents build strength, improve balance, and move through each day with confidence. This work shows up in real moments: finding steady footing on the dance floor, walking to dinner with a friend, gardening, painting, or pursuing a hobby brings them joy.
No matter where our residents are on their journey, physical therapists are there to celebrate the small wins as much as the big ones.

🎩 We’re MAD about tea!
In celebration of National Mad Hatter Day, we stepped into a world of whimsy with a fabulous tea party and a little floral hat design magic!
Our residents designed their own beautiful, one-of-a-kind floral hats, filled the room with creativity and whimsical charm, and enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea complete with delicious sweets and treats.
We will always celebrate this fun day every 10/6! A very unhappy birthday to all!

🎨 Creativity lives in the senses. By exploring texture, shape, color, and sound, we light up multiple pathways in the brain, each a new doorway to expression and connection on the dementia journey.
In October, we’re exploring Play as Imagination at Artis. Join us in celebrating the wonderfully weird decorative gourd. Smooth ones, bumpy ones, tall ones, round ones, inviting us to touch, create, and play. Wrap them in ribbon, turn them into shakers, sort them by size, or help build a gourd village.
