Advancing Safe Living at Artis Senior Living

Partners in advancing safe living

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Artis Senior Living launched many new protocols in an effort to ensure the health and safety of our Assisted Living and Memory Care residents. As we continue to navigate these challenging times, Artis is proud to lead the way through our partnership with renowned physicians from Johns Hopkins University.

Together, we’ve created the Artis Safety Council, a dedicated initiative to enhance our already high level of care and commitment to the safety and well-being of the residents, associates, and families who make up our extended Artis family.

Artis Senior Living acted swiftly and proactively during the COVID-19 pandemic to protect the safety and well-being of our residents, families, and associates while maintaining a sense of normalcy in the communities. Watch our “A Day in the Life at Artis During COVID-19” video to see what a typical day now looks like for our residents and associates while maintaining our safety protocols.

A Letter to Our Artis Families

A Message from Frank Wehr, Chief Operating Officer for Artis Senior Living

September 1, 2021

To Our Artis Families:

Around the world, we have spent the last year and a half facing the reality of the changes that the COVID-19 pandemic has forced on our lives. To this day, we actively track the cases, percentages and mandates of the state and county that our community resides within to ensure we have the most up to date information to make the best decisions for our residents, our associates and all their loved ones.

As you likely know from media reports, most of our nation is facing a resurgence in infections, hospitalizations and even deaths. For this reason, Artis Senior Living is announcing that all associates will be required to have, at a minimum, the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by November 1, 2021. As of the same date, all new associates will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Please note that certain accommodations and exceptions may be granted in accordance with applicable laws.

Based on extensive data afforded to us through the Artis Safety Council, our partnership with the physicians of Johns Hopkins Medicine and now with approval from the FDA, we believe that this is the only possible decision to best protect our residents and associates and the people they love most.

As you know, one of the most important guiding principles of the Artis family is the Ability to Have a Voice. Throughout this pandemic we have listened carefully to our residents, our associates and their families, and we’ve considered the voices of each one before coming to this incredibly important decision. While we would have preferred to continue a voluntary process, our commitment to safety outweighs the concerns with imposing this requirement.

We appreciate your continued support, patience and understanding in what has been one of our most challenging times, and we hope that this decision gives you continued confidence in the care that we are providing to your loved one. Please know as we continue to navigate this pandemic, we do so with the goal of keeping every member of our Artis family as safe as possible, and that family includes each of you.

We must all do our part to help reduce the number of people affected by this virus in any way we can. We hope that if you have not done so already, you will consider getting vaccinated for not only the protection of your loved one, but also for their neighbors, the associates who care for them each day and all their families.

Sincerely,

Frank Wehr, Chief Operating Officer of Artis Senior Living Management, LLC, and its affiliates
